Hyperbola.


Materials:

2 tacks.

2 pieces of string.

one small washer.

Drawing board.

Pencil.


Place 2 tacks on a drawing board.  Place each tack on one of the two foci of a hyperbola.

Use 2 pieces of string.  Tie each one to a tack.

Thread the two strings through the washer.

Place a pencil in the washer and adjust the length of the two strings for the proper hyperbola.  Then hold both ends of the two strings together.

Move the pencil and washer and a hyperbola will be drawn.
